Affordability
Affordability was the biggest concern I heard from residents. I want council decisions to consider the real cost to households and be explained clearly before major tax or fee decisions are made.

What's being discussed?
How council can make decisions that keep Barons affordable while still maintaining necessary services and infrastructure.
Why it matters
Many residents are already feeling stretched. Taxes, fees, utilities, and service costs all affect whether Barons remains affordable for the people who live here.
My current thinking
Affordability should be considered before major spending, tax, or fee decisions are made. Residents should be able to understand what is changing, why it is changing, and how it affects them.
What I am checking
- Budget documents
- Tax rate changes
- Utility fees
- Reserve levels
- Service costs
- Grant opportunities
- Whether spending decisions are clearly justified
- Whether costs can be delayed, phased, reduced, or funded differently
What I have heard
Residents repeatedly raised affordability as their top concern. Many people had several concerns, but affordability was the most common issue I heard.
