What this policy covers

This policy explains how this personal councillor website handles information from resident forms, contact messages, website feedback, analytics, admin tools, and technical logs.

This site is operated by Clinton Bishop as an individual councillor. It is not the official Village of Barons website.

Information you choose to send

  • Resident idea and contact forms may collect your name, email, phone number, whether you live in Barons, topic, message type, message, consent choices, and the page where the form was submitted.
  • Website feedback may collect your name and email if you provide them, the issue type, page URL, message, consent choice, and basic technical information that helps troubleshoot the website.
  • Some forms may let you submit anonymously. If you choose that option, avoid putting identifying details in the message.
  • Do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for the issue you are raising.

How information is used

  • To read, organize, and respond to resident messages when follow-up is requested or appropriate.
  • To understand common questions or concerns about council issues, votes, policies, bylaws, budgets, services, or development.
  • To prepare public updates, issue summaries, and vote explanations. Resident names are not published by default.
  • To fix broken links, form problems, accessibility issues, privacy concerns, or other website problems.
  • To protect, maintain, and improve the website and admin tools.

What this website is not

Messages sent through this website are not Village service requests, complaints, permit applications, payment requests, records requests, business licence applications, or administrative requests.

If your matter belongs with the Village Office, you may be directed to contact the Village of Barons.

Analytics and cookies

  • The site may use Vercel Analytics to understand general site traffic and page use.
  • The site may use Google Analytics only if a Google Analytics measurement ID is configured and you allow optional analytics cookies.
  • Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to help understand how visitors use the site.
  • You can accept or decline optional analytics, and you can change your choice using the Privacy choices link in the footer.
  • The site does not use analytics to sell personal information.
  • The site does not use advertising pixels unless they are added and disclosed later.

Where information is stored and processed

Resident submissions, website feedback, updates, meetings, vote logs, and admin records may be stored in Supabase or other services used to operate this site.

Hosting, analytics, database, authentication, spam prevention, security, and development tools may process limited information needed to provide their services. Those providers have their own privacy practices.

Some providers may process or store information outside Alberta or Canada. Information handled outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that location.

Sharing and public use

  • Resident submissions and website feedback are not shown publicly by default.
  • Clinton may summarize themes from messages in public updates, such as noting that residents asked about a topic. Names are not used by default.
  • Information may be shared if required by law, needed to protect the website, or needed to work with service providers that operate the site.
  • This site does not sell personal information.

Retention

Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for resident messages, issue tracking, website operation, security, legal obligations, or site recordkeeping.

Submissions may be archived or deleted when they are no longer needed. Some technical logs may be kept by service providers for their own security and operational purposes.

Your choices

  • You can choose how much personal information to include in a form.
  • You can decline optional analytics cookies.
  • You can ask about information you have submitted, request a correction, or ask for deletion where it is reasonable and legally possible.
  • Some information may need to be kept if required for security, legal, operational, or recordkeeping reasons.
  • You can ask Clinton not to contact you for follow-up by not giving follow-up consent or by saying so in your message.

Security

Reasonable steps are used to restrict admin access and protect resident submissions, website feedback, drafts, meeting notes, and vote logs.

No website, database, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.

Children and sensitive information

This site is not designed to collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians can contact Clinton if they believe a child submitted information that should be reviewed or removed.

Please avoid sending health, financial, legal, or other highly sensitive information through website forms unless it is necessary.

Updates and contact

This policy may be updated as the website, analytics, database, or admin tools change.
